The producer
The Rivero family can trace their history of involvement with wine in the sherry region all the way back to 1650. Yet the modern history starts in 1998, when Joaquin Rivero establishes Bodegas Tradicion. From the outset, his idea was to focus only on very old casks and wines with either VOS or VORS designations and to bottle tiny batches of those. The wines see no cold stabilisation, sulphite addition, fining, or filtration, and no sweet flavouring, and are those, we could say, the purest of grape and wine development expression. The annual production is only around 25,000 bottles.
The wine
The Tradicion VORS 30 Year Old Oloroso Sherry is a complex and elegant Oloroso, aged for an average of 42 years, making it significantly older than the minimum 30 years required for VORS certification. Originating from soleras dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, this sherry showcases a bright, orange-tinted color, a fragrant nose with fruity, nutty, and spicy notes, alongside a palate that balances vivid acidity with round nutty and chocolate flavors, all while maintaining a completely dry profile.
