The producer
Ghislaine Barthod assumed responsibility of winemaking in 1987, taking full control of the estate in 1999, crafting a range of wines from nearly 6 hectares of Chambolle-Musigny and is one of the stars of the commune, despite having no Grand Cru vineyard. However, the holdings of precious parts of some of the best Premier Crus assures the fame of the estate, with up to 11 separate Premier Cru bottlings of which Les Cras is one stand out.
The wine
Ghislaine Barthod has 0.82 hectares in Les Cras 1er Cru, which is sited at the same altitude as Bonnes Mares. Elegance, concentration, and structure epitomise what makes the wines of Chambolle-Musigny so charming. Ghislaine Barthod – with her pure and graceful touch - is a standard-bearer for the commune.
