The producer

Domaine Jobard-Morey is a highly regarded family estate in Meursault, Burgundy, producing small quantities of meticulously crafted wines that faithfully express the character of some of the Côte de Beaune's finest vineyards. Established through the marriage of two respected Burgundian families, the domaine combines generations of winemaking expertise with a thoughtful, low-intervention approach in both the vineyard and cellar. Great emphasis is placed on sustainable viticulture, low yields and careful élevage, allowing each parcel to reflect its individual terroir. The domaine's Meursaults, including the outstanding Premier Cru Poruzots, are prized for their precision, purity and ageing potential, balancing rich orchard fruit with vibrant citrus freshness, refined minerality and beautifully integrated oak. Although production remains extremely limited, Domaine Jobard-Morey has earned a growing reputation amongst Burgundy collectors for crafting elegant, terroir-driven wines that exemplify the finesse and complexity of modern Meursault.

The wine

Domaine Jobard-Morey’s Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots is a superb expression of one of Meursault’s most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards, where terroir plays the defining role. Situated on the southern side of the village, just below the famed Genevrières, Poruzots benefits from an ideal south-east facing slope and shallow, limestone-rich soils interspersed with clay and fractured rock. These well-drained soils encourage deep root systems and naturally restrict vine vigour, producing fruit of remarkable concentration while preserving freshness and finesse. Domaine Jobard-Morey farms its small parcels with meticulous attention to detail, allowing the distinctive character of the vineyard to shine through. The resulting wine is both powerful and refined, combining ripe citrus, orchard fruit and subtle hazelnut notes with striking mineral tension, vibrant acidity and a long, savoury finish. A beautifully balanced Premier Cru, Poruzots offers the richness for which Meursault is renowned while retaining the precision and elegance that make this historic climat one of the appellation’s finest expressions.

We choose our wines based on a range of criteria (see how we choose our wines) of which critic scores is just one. Rather than simply highlight the best score to promote a wine, our average critic score is calculated from the scores provided by several respected wine critics, who we follow for specific regions. They do not represent all critic scores and, wherever possible, we try and give more weight to more recent reviews. Where appropriate we consider market-based scores like Global Wine Score or Wine Searcher Average scores.

As a rule, we look to offer wines that achieve a 92/100 average critic score or better and frankly a lot of very good wines simply don’t make the cut. As a high-end provider we want to reflect that positioning in the quality of wines we offer. Such wines are only a tiny fraction of those generally on offer in the market. We believe that an average score is a more conservative and representative approach, but it is still subjective and only offered as a guide to our customers, who will (and should) do their own research. We will add individual critic scores to our website in the future.
