Schlossberg Grand Cru

Schlossberg Grand Cru is – with 80 hectares – Alsace’s largest Grand Cru vineyard and located above the Kaysersberg hill and village of Kientzheim in the heart of the Haut-Rhin. The slopes are south facing and rise 240-420 metres above sea level, which makes them some of the steepest and with the highest altitude in the region. Schlossberg is planted with 76% Riesling with some Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer and a soupcon of Muscat. The soil is composed largely of granite, which produces a very distinct style of Riesling; wines from here are delicate and floral, and distinguished by a freshness and racy structure which they draw from the granitic terroir.  Domaine Weinbach is an outstanding producer in Schlossberg as are Marcel Deiss, F.E. Trimbach and Albert Mann.
