Louis Jadot

Established in 1859 Maison Louis Jadot is one of the largest in Burgundy controlling over 150ha, 70ha of which are in the Cote d’Or, but with holdings in Beaujolais and Oregon, USA. Jadot is a large negociant-manipulant with labels over various levels of quality and price but the cream goes under Domaine Louis Jadot which has established the reputation for some of Burgundy’s finest wines, both red and white.

The modern, state-of-the-art winery near Savigny-les-Beaune may not represent the romance of Burgundy but the wines themselves embody that … beautiful, finely proportioned wines that speak a little of their maker but a lot of their provenance. Louis Jadot is on song.

While Maison Louis Latour is the larger negociant business, Domaine Louis Latour produces wines from their own vineyard holdings in the Cote d’Or including a whopping 17ha of Grand Cru Corton and 10ha of Corton-Charlemagne and Grand Cru holdings from Gevrey-Chambertin to Chassagne-Montrachet.

Louis Latour owns 10.5 hectares in the Corton Charlemagne vineyard, which makes them the biggest owner in the appellation. The plot has a prime south-easterly aspect and the soil is rich in limestone. Ageing takes place in 100% new oak barrels for 8-10 months. Under the Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot owns 3ha across the Corton and Le Charlemagne border with 1.5ha of south-facing Corton Les Pougets producing powerfully structured but seductive pinot noir.
