Eva Fricke

Eva Fricke is not from a winemaking family or background, both her parents are doctors, but after a work experience in South Africa as a 17-year-old, she decided that making wine was the path for her and proceeded to study oenology at Geisenheim and in 2006 she started making her own wine.

It didn’t take her long to create a name for herself, and her pure and terroir driven wines have, over the years, garnered an enormous amount of critical acclaim and are being sought out by wine collectors and wine lovers everywhere. Sotherby’s fine wine auction, in the autumn of 2021, included several of Eva’s wines, including the Lorcher Krone TBA 2019 was awarded 100 points by The Wine Advocate.

Today Fricke has 17 hectares of vineyards, organically farmed, around the Eltville village, including land in the two Grand Crus, Krone and Schlossberg. The wines are made only in stainless steel, to allow the fruit and terroir expression to express themselves to the fullest, with anything from 4-10 months on fine lees.
