Domaine Rene Rostaing

The Rostaing estate was created through inheritance – Rene Rostaing’s wife, Christine Dervieux, inherited vineyards from her father, Albert Dervieux Thaize, and also from her uncle, Marius Gentaz-Dervioux. Where French inheritance laws normally lead to the breaking up of domaines, due to exorbitant inheritance taxes, this saw the re-unification of these family estates, and gave Rene Rostaing some of the finest vineyards in the appellation.

Today, Domaine Rene Rostaing has 11 hectares spread over 20 parcels, most of which are farmed organically. The domain follows the traditions of its forebears with older oak barrels – wines are matured in demi-muids and Burgundy barrels, of which only 10-15% are new – and restrained use of Viognier. These are wines where the fruit speaks loudest, beautifully aromatic whether it’s the multi-site blend or the powerful and majestic single-vineyard wines. We offer three of the Rene Rostaing line up, which are the Cote Blonde, Cote Brune, and the La Landonne.
