Clos Windsbuhl
The 5.5 hectares Clos Windsbuhl vineyard is located in the village of Hunawihr, overlooking the church of Ste Hune, and is the monopole site of Domaine Zind-Humbrecht. The steep, terraced site faces south-east at an elevation of 350 metres and the soil is limestone rich in clay and chalky rock. Protected from northern winds by the Vosges mountains this is a later ripening site and often one of Zind-Humbrecht’s last vineyards to be harvested. Clos Windsbuhl is planted with Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris, and wines from here have a unique crystalline aromatic quality and consistently linear and uplifting character.
