The producer
Founded in 1900, Domaine Vacheron has become synonymous with excellence in Sancerre winemaking. The Vacheron family is undeniably the region’s premier winemaking dynasty. Their groundbreaking efforts in identifying and cultivating the finest terroirs, coupled with their leadership in biodynamic viticulture, set them apart. The estate's meticulously tended older vines, nurtured by generations, are exceptional. However, it is their single-vineyard wines—terroir-focused selections reminiscent of the meticulous work of Burgundian monks in the Côte d’Or—that have demonstrated Sancerre’s potential for unparalleled complexity and greatness.
The wine
Established more than 120 years ago by Maurice Vacheron, the Domaine has some of the best parcels in Sancerre and has been biodynamically certified since 2005. The 2020 release, crafted from the Domaine's oldest parcel, 'Les Romains,' which features vines over 60 years old, is a pristine and invigorating example of the Sauvignon Blanc varietal.
